The first Income Generating Activity cohort opens — sewing machines for women exiting sex work, carpentry tools for recovering drug users, seed capital for mama-ntilie food vendors.
01
Why IGAs
Without an exit ramp from sex work or drug use, the most effective prevention session is a half-intervention. RFE's IGA spine was designed to give a concrete alternative income while the prevention pieces did their work.
02
Cohort one
42 women on sewing, 18 men in carpentry, 31 women in food-vending. Seed grants ranged from TZS 250,000 to TZS 700,000.
