Voices for vulnerable adolescent girls and young women
ASUTA worked with the SAUTI Program alongside JHPIEGO and its partners (EngenderHealth, NIMR and Pact) under USAID support. The programme sought to improve the health status of all Tanzanians through a sustained reduction in new HIV infections, supporting the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania's commitments to HIV prevention and family planning.
ASUTA's specific role was to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS in vulnerable adolescent girls and young women (vAGYW), advocating and empowering them with social protection and safe spaces, education, economic skills and access to family planning, HIV testing and counselling, and other reproductive health interventions.
The programme used new and enhanced vulnerability-tailored, high-quality combination HIV prevention; positive health, dignity and prevention (PHDP); and family planning services for key and vulnerable populations (KVP).
